A delegation of American officials headed by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman arrived in Kyiv.
Sherman and US Deputy Secretary of Defense Colin Kahl met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, who expressed gratitude to the US government and people for the financial and humanitarian assistance and weapons for the Armed Forces.
The officials arrived in Ukraine after visiting Germany and Poland to "deliver a key message of unwavering and steady support for Ukraine's course and to express their admiration for Ukrainian resilience and bravery," Sherman said.
At a meeting with journalists, she expressed her pain and sadness over the fact that Ukraine is suffering losses, people are dying and missing, and families are being destroyed. "Every day, our sympathies go out to Ukraine," the official stated.
According to her, the members of the delegation wanted to see with their own eyes the current situation in Ukraine and hear from the President of Ukraine and other officials about the needs for security and defense, as well as about the energy and humanitarian needs of Ukraine.
Sherman assured that all NATO members are united in their support for Ukraine, as well as fulfilling their own promises of assistance to strengthen Ukraine and equip its military to protect its citizens. She also recalled the volumes of financial aid and military armament packages authorized by the US Congress and the administration of President Joe Biden.
The official said she regretted the failure to secure peace diplomatically when, a year ago, American officials also "crossed the Atlantic and tried to find a way to peace and use diplomatic tools to prevent Russia's unnecessary, unjust and unprovoked war against Ukraine."
Sherman stated, "Unfortunately, Putin had already made his decision at that point, and no matter what was offered, nothing could stop or change his deadly course."
Kal, recalling the tragedy in the Dnipro, said that the killing of civilians horrified the whole world and was evidence of the brutal callousness of the Russians. Russia denies that it strikes civilians.
""Many people thought the Russians would win right away, but they didn't. And this is thanks to the extraordinary resilience and innovativeness of the Ukrainian troops," Kal added, and also assured that the US and other partner countries will continue to provide assistance.
Kal is convinced that the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system will be particularly effective in countering Russian aggression.
As the Voice of America reported , today the Ukrainian military arrived in the American state of Oklahoma to begin training in managing these complexes.
