"You can't win a war by half-measures." US legislators on the next arms deliveries to Ukraine

The US budget, adopted in December last year, provides almost 45 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine. The decision to support Ukraine, including through the provision of tanks and possibly other offensive weapons, agreed with other NATO partners, shows that the West is united in its support for Ukraine and Moscow's calculation that the partners will "get tired" of this support has not been justified , say congressmen with whom "Voice of America" ​​spoke.

Some of the interlocutors of "Voice of America" ​​stated that the arms deliveries take place according to the needs expressed by Ukraine and how the Americans assess these needs. So, let's say, the tanks are coming now, not at the beginning of the Russian invasion. Also, some of the legislators say that it is time to discuss not only the supply of tanks, but also airplanes.

In a conversation with "Voice of America", Tim Kaine, a Democratic senator from the state of Virginia, says that the request came from Ukraine and it is in Kyiv that they decide which weapons are needed by the armed forces of Ukraine.

" This issue depends on the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Here, we listen to them and do not take the initiative. We don't tell them how to do it, but we actively negotiate with them. The recent budget, which included $45 billion in additional military and other aid to Ukraine, shows that we are with them, but we are not deciding what exactly they need," says Senator Kaine.
