Two citizens of Ukraine, who were considered dead in the Turkish city of Hatay as a result of the earthquake, were rescued from under the ruins of the building. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar , announced this on his Facebook page .

In an interview with the Ukrainian service of Voice of America, the ambassador said that the embassy also has information about 4 wounded Ukrainians, they have minor injuries and do not need medical assistance. "We managed to establish contact with 38 citizens who were wanted by their relatives, and the search for contacts with 19 Ukrainians, who, according to the available information, were in the area of ​​this natural disaster, is still ongoing," the ambassador said.

Vasyl Bodnar said that a team of rescuers from Ukraine should arrive in Turkey already on Tuesday, Kyiv is also providing humanitarian aid to Ankara: "Two planes took off, one of them medical. A total of 87 specialists, high-class rescuers, who have experience in rescue operations in urban conditions, some of them have already flown in these planes. The departure took place, and today the planes will be in Turkey. And also a motorcade of special equipment is moving, which has already crossed the border of Ukraine... Our experts are arriving on their equipment and will deal with the demolition of rubble and help the victims right there on the spot."

According to the ambassador, the urgent help of rescuers is critically important, because at the moment there is a chance to get people alive from under the rubble. Vasyl Bodnar said that currently there is a great need for food and warm clothes in the disaster zones, because most people remain in the affected areas. "I have not yet seen a wave of evacuations, mainly the wounded and those in need of special assistance, or children left without parents, because most families hope to find their relatives and settle there. The army is spreading a tent city, they are forming temporary housing," said Bodnar.

Employees of the Embassy of Ukraine, which is located in Ankara, also felt the consequences of the earthquake: "During the greatest peak of tremors, we felt some movement of dishes, but no one is conducting any evacuations, this region is not under threat."

According to the ambassador, about 70 countries have already joined in helping Turkey.

The number of people killed as a result of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria exceeded 7,200 thousand. At least 5,200 dead in Turkey and 1,800 in Syria are known. More than 8,000 people were rescued from the rubble in Turkey. Search operations continue, and the number of dead bodies found is constantly increasing
